BMC’s Public Sector
Forum Attendees “Get Scanned for Haiti”
IT Prophets Donates to Haiti Relief
Efforts Provided by CARE
Washington, DC. January 4, 2010. Attendee’s at BMC
Software’s Fed Forum 2010 played an instrumental role in
enabling IT Prophets to make a donation of $250 to
support the earthquake disaster relief efforts in Haiti.
Based upon participants stopping by the IT Prophets
booth and getting their badge scanned, IT Prophets would
make a donation for each block of attendee’s
participating and the $250 tier was attained.
The
donation will be delivered by CARE. CARE is a
leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty in 72
countries. CARE is
continuing to distribute aid to survivors of the
7.0-magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday,
January 12.
The quake's epicenter was
just 10 miles south of the country's capital,
Port-au-Prince, leaving it in ruins. Most of the
buildings have collapsed, including hospitals, homes and
schools. Approximately 3 million people have been
affected by the most powerful quake ever recorded in the
country – the poorest in the Western Hemisphere. The
Haitian government estimates the toll at 112,500 deaths
and 196,500 injuries and more than 1,000,000 left
homeless.
Managing Partner of IT
Prophets, Jean Landmesser, sums up the initiative “As a
small business we are thankful for the opportunity to be
able to assist the CARE team in rendering assistance
during this catastrophe. CARE is a proven world class
organization and as IT Prophets has worked with CARE
over the years we know they will deliver aid as
effectively as possible.”
